Reminiscing

The 2022 season is off to a great start! We've already met so many wonderful people from all over the United States, as well as many countries around the world. As one sweet lady left the shop, she said, “I have filled my eyes with many beautiful things.” Ten years ago, that was the dream for Poppins--to offer products that you love as much as we do!  This year we are celebrating the 10th season of opening Poppins, but really the story begins in 1992. That year, our boss, Kate, arrived from England with nothing more than a backpack and...

Poppins Welcomes the New Season

The 2022 season has begun! It has been a busy spring on Mackinac Island. We unpacked many, many boxes of beautiful products and arranged things 'just so' for you to see on your visit. The shops were dusted, swept, and painted to prepare for opening day, which was Saturday, April 30th.  It wasn’t all work! Two Little Shops on Mackinac Island

A little introduction.   Poppins opened in 2013 on Main Street on Mackinac Island. You can easily spot our bright aqua awning and distinctive coral door. We sell cards, paper goods, jewelry, accessories, apothecary treats and gifts. The music is soothing and the vibe is peaceful. One guest described Poppins as a little tranquil oasis from the hustle and bustle of the busy Main Street. We stock cards for all occasions and we hope our selection will inspire you to write a note to a loved one.  Poppins (Home) is located right next door to Poppins and it opened in...

The Neon Boneyard

I had a free day while on a working trip to Las Vegas in mid February so I decided to check out the Neon Boneyard. I had read a little online and I was super excited to see it.  I hopped in a cab from my hotel on The Strip and headed to Old Las Vegas. (You can a take a bus but it takes over an hour and half with a little walk from the bus stop) It is important to book ahead online as space on each tour is limited to about 20 people. I actually arrived earlier than...
